Let me warn you, if you hate writing or sitting in front of the computer for 2-3 hours then this is not for you. Every once in a while I get an email from someone who needs to make a few extra bucks per month and don’t have any experience with marketing, building websites or even money to invest in a home based business. If that’s you pay close attention. I’m about to show you how you can start making money online with 0 investment. The only investment would be time and if you are looking for something to do part-time maybe 2-3 hours per day then what I’m about to show you is perfect for you.

There’s one thing on the internet that has the biggest demand out of everything I know and that’s CONTENT. The internet is constantly being added with new content like articles, websites, blogs, directories and more. Every website owner and blogger needs new content. Which is why freelance writing is one of the things that is constantly in demand.

What is Freelance writing and How does it work?

It’s quite simple, basically when someone hires you to write articles or content on specific topics. Sometimes they’ll pay you per hour or per article. Sort of like ghost writing where you are paid for writing but you are not credited for it. I have personally paid up to $10 for an article of 800+ words on specific topic.

The best part is you don’t need experience or special requirements to get started other than researching and writing. Below you’ll find a list of resources where you can signup for free and give it a go:

  • Fiverr: is a platform where you’ll find all sorts of people selling gigs, you get a minimum of $5 per gig. You can create a gig and start writing 350-400 word articles for $5. Signing up is free and creating your gig takes 5 minutes.
  • Odesk: This is a bigger and more professional platform to find higher quality freelancing services, there are thousands of people daily looking for freelance writers. Signing up is free and simple.
  • Iwriter: (RECOMMENDED) This is by far one of the best places to get paid for writing articles, the main reason is as you become better and get more clients the more you are able to charge per article. I’ve seen people charge up to $20 per article and it currently has thousands of members both writing and looking for writers. Signing up is free.

In reality there are a few hundred sites that actually pay you to produce content, however I only included ones where you have the potential of earning more money for your efforts and most importantly you can choose your own schedule since you are working for your self. Unique content is highly valuable online so once you have joined any of the platforms mentioned above you will have to compete at first in order to land some clients.

Getting started is the most difficult part, but once you are doing it for a while consistently it will get easier. I personally know a few freelancers who make a full-time living online from it earning up to $35 per hour creating content, but they been doing it for years now.

Competition is everywhere, here are some tips to help you land clients

Price: Initially since you have no credibility as a writer, charge a low price per article. With a low price at first you have more chances of landing a few clients. If you produce quality work there’s a chance those clients will hire you again for more, as you build your first 30-50 clients then you can start increasing your price per article because now you have some credibility and testimonials from happy customers.

Research: Don’t be afraid to write about topics you are not familiar with, remember researching is everything. Never copy content from another website, but you can gather ideas and information from other sources to produce an article that actually has value.

Reputation: Building your reputation as a writer is everything, each site mentioned above has it’s own rating system, the more credibility and the higher your rating is the more money you can charge to write. So it’s safe to say that you must be sure that each client you have is 100% happy with your work. This is how you can go from earning $4 per article to $18 for the same amount of work.

I hope these tips help you and you follow some of them in your own journey to become a freelance writer. Thanks for reading and don’t forget to share this post if you like it 😉
